‘Think Like a Composer!’ Workshop for Keys Academy Students
October 3 @ 14:00 - 17:00
£20.00

Think Like a Composer is a creative workshop for Keys Academy students who are ready to explore what goes on behind the music they play. Through practical challenges, listening, experimenting and plenty of time at the piano, we’ll explore how composers use melody, harmony, rhythm, texture, structure and musical character to turn an idea into a piece of music. Children will have the chance to experiment with their own ideas and begin creating an original piece of their own. But composing isn’t just great fun and a brilliant way to be creative – learning to think like a composer can transform the way we understand the music we already play. By discovering why a composer might choose a particular chord, rhythm, pattern or change of mood, students can begin to see repertoire from the inside out, helping them become more thoughtful, imaginative and confident musicians.
